Paper submissions are invited for the Workshop on Hybrid Case-Based Reasoning Systems, to be held as part of the ICCBR-99 conference, on the morning of July 28th 1999.
The focus of attention in the Workshop will be on the combination or integration of case-based reasoning with either one or more other artificial intelligence methodologies (for example neural networks or rule-based systems), or with some non-AI problem solving methodology, as a means of exploiting the potential synergy that may possibly be obtained by employing a combination of diverse problem solving paradigms.
The specific aims of the workshop are:
The above aims will be realised through a combination of oral and poster presentations, with adequate time being devoted to structured plenary discussion, directed to the identification of key issues, common interests and directions for future research into hybrid CBR systems research.
The Workshop will address both theoretical and practical issues. Appropriate topics for papers include, but are not limited to, the following:
Also, papers on the application of hybrid CBR approaches to the solution of practical problems in science, engineering or business will be particularly welcome.
In addition to full papers, shorter position papers are also invited on, for example,
Persons wishing to contribute to the workshop are invited to submit, via email to the address below, a paper on either theoretical or applied research in the area of hybrid CBR problem solving. Full papers should be no longer than 8 pages in length, with a text font not less than 10 pt.; position papers should be 3 - 5 pages in length.
The workshop notes, comprising all accepted papers, will be published in the form of a Technical Report of the Centre for Learning Systems and Applications (LSA) of the University of Kaiserslautern. In addition, it is anticipated that authors of selected papers may be invited to extend their paper, to be considered for subsequent publication in a special issue of an international journal. Papers that are not accepted for oral presentation may be accepted for presentation at the poster session of the workshop.
Participants of the Workshop will be required to register for the main ICCBR conference. To cover costs it will be necessary to charge workshop participants a small workshop fee in addition to the normal ICCBR-99 registration fee.
