Instructions for Presenters at ICCBR-2001

These instructions apply to everyone presenting a paper (invited, long and short oral presentations) at ICCBR-2001. These instructions DO NOT apply to poster presentations, to presentations at ICCA or to ICCBR workshop presentations.

Equipment

The Fletcher Challenge Canadian Theatre in the Harbour Centre will be equipped with a data projector, a Dell P4 PC with 100Mb Zip drive and CD-ROM. MS PowerPoint 2000, the Adobe Acrobat Reader and WinZip will be installed on the computer. An OHP will also be provided.

Presentations

To ensure a smooth, quick, professional transition between papers presenters are asked NOT to use their own notebook computers. If you are using MS PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat you MUST use the computer provided for you in the theatre (* see note below).

Your presentations can be pre-loaded in two ways:

  1. Email your presentation to: ydshen@cs.sfu.ca and he will install it in an appropriate folder for you (files should be named with your name and initial eg: John Doe = jdoe.ppt)
  2. Bring your presentation with you on a floppy disk, 100 MB Zip disk or CD-ROM and give it to the ICCBR volunteer at anytime before your session and he will install it in an appropriate folder for you (files should be named with your name and initial eg: John Doe = jdoe.ppt)

(Note: You are recommended to email your presentation before you leave for Vancouver and to bring a copy with you)

Users of PowerPoint please note:

  1. Assume a screen resolution of 800x600
  2. When you save your presentation ensure that the "Embed TrueType Fonts" option is selected.
  3. If your presentation is too large for a single floppy use the "Pack and Go" option to save your presentation across several floppy disks.

You should present yourself to the chair of your session at least 15 minutes before your session starts, when you will have an opportunity to check your presentation.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If for any reason you are going to be late arriving at ICCBR-2001 please inform the conference secretariat: Penny Southby Penny_Southby@sfu.ca

* If as part of your presentation you intend to demonstrate a software application you will be permitted to use your own computer. If you are just using PowerPoint or Acrobat you will NOT be permitted to use your own computer.
